Not supposed to be there

This isn’t news as it happened last week but I had to go see it myself yesterday. If you look closely you’ll notice that the vehicle that is upside-down halfway down the hill in the photo is a HUGE dump truck. I believe it is a “haul truck” similar to those pictured at this link. Apparently the ground beneath the truck gave way and down the hill it went. According to Kennecott’s web site, an average haul truck is 24 feet high, 29 feet wide and 51 feet long and when full can weigh 1.1 million pounds. That’s a lot of truck rolling down a steep hill! According to the news, the driver was pinned inside upside-down until they rescued him, but he was wearing a seat belt and escaped with only minor injuries. Thank heavens.

Of course the next question is, how will they remove the truck from the hill?
